We have been married for over 7 years. We were high school sweethearts and our love grew from there. We always knew we wanted a family and were thrilled when we found out we were expecting the first time. Cohen joined our family and our life has never been the same!! Kendall joined us a little while later and we were amazed at how different girls can be from boys :) We have now added another little character to our zoo. We are so thankful for God's blessings and can't wait to see where He takes us.

Cohen turns 6

Okay so I have been really neglecting this blog and for that I am sorry. So the story is that my phone went for a swim and I lost a bunch of really special pictures and was really holding onto hope that one of these days they would magically appear back in my photo roll. But no such luck :( So I guess we are moving on sucking it up and using the pictures we had on the camera. So here we go....

For Cohen's birthday we wanted to do something special. It had been quite a transition for Cohen into kindergarten and Keith and I wanted to reward him with something special. Plus we wanted to do something with just him. And we had just the thing -- with Cohen's love for trains and animals the best idea was to take him to Chicago on the train and visit Shedd Aquarium!! So we told Cohen we were doing something special but no more than that. We dropped off the girls at my parents and made the drive to Michigan City to catch the train.

Cohen was sooo excited - even with no idea where he was going

We arrived at the train station with about 5 min to spare. When Cohen saw the sign he freaked out " I get to ride a REAL train!!!" It was awesome!! Even the attendant taking the tickets had a conductor hat and punched Cohen's ticket like his favorite movie "Polar Express."

Cohen and Daddy
I am so sad -- I had a bunch of cute photos of Cohen on the train :(

We arrived in Chicago and got off near Shedd and all of the museums. At this point Cohen still didn't really know what was going on. But when we started walking up the steps to the aquarium and he saw the pictures of all the fish and such he was super excited.

We spent almost 5 hours at Shedd. We saw so many amazing sea animals and creatures. I am always in wonder when I go there at how amazing our God is and how creative He is!!!

All of us at the Dolphin show

Again I had a TON of cute photos on my phone but we aren't talking about that anymore right :)

So when we were done we headed to the L and found our way to the hotel. Cohen was super pumped when he saw the pool. So needless to say we spent quite a bit of time in the pool.

Cohen -- our little fish

That night we went out for Chicago style pizza. About half way thru dinner Cohen curled up on my lap "to take a little rest." So precious

The next day we woke up and found our favorite little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that we ate at like 10 years. We were sooo excited it was still there and the food tasted just as great!! Cohen has now fallen in love with pancakes :) Then we headed back to the hotel for of course some more swimming :) That is when my phone went for a swim with Cohen :)

We checked out of the hotel and made our way to Michigan Ave. But we had to stop for Sprinkles cupcakes first :)

We hit up the Lego store after and some other shops.

We didn't really think about the train until it was too late and ended up having to kill some time in the park while we waited for the next train. But we eventually made it back home. Cohen still talks about all the fun he had so despite losing my phone we were so glad that did it :)

Art Prize 2013

Wow - sometimes I think I should just give up on this blog thing. I am such a slacker!! Oh well.

I say it every year but there is just something about in MI in the fall!! One of my favorite things has become Art Prize. I am not a huge Art buff but there is something to be said about people's creativity. So we packed up the kids and headed downtown.

Apparently this is all the photos I have :( I will explain in the next post

with love from the zoo
