We have been married for over 7 years. We were high school sweethearts and our love grew from there. We always knew we wanted a family and were thrilled when we found out we were expecting the first time. Cohen joined our family and our life has never been the same!! Kendall joined us a little while later and we were amazed at how different girls can be from boys :) We have now added another little character to our zoo. We are so thankful for God's blessings and can't wait to see where He takes us.

Things You Don't Say To Your 9 Month Pregnant Hygienist

So here is a list of things you should not say to your 9 month pregnant hygienist - or really any pregnant person

  • You have gained some weight since I saw you last time
  • You are walking a little different since my last appt
  • You look like you might pop out of those scrubs
  • Are you going to be able to reach my mouth?
Thankfully I only have 2 more working days!! Otherwise I might just let baby give them a quick swift kick to the head!

A little post race dance

I had to add this because I thought it was too cute. Enjoy

We Run Naked

Today Keith and Cohen ran naked - don't worry only their feet were naked! The Naked Foot 5 K is a national race that encourages participants to run barefoot. Keith ran with a couple of buddies and all were thrilled when they got to meet Ken Bob - known as the "who's who" of barefoot racing. The morning started with some warm ups. Cohen's race was first. He was sooo excited that he was running another race and after Keith showed him the route he was ready to go! The grass was a little wet and Cohen stumbled a bit but we were sooo proud of him - it was his longest race - a 1k! Keith ran in his Vibram shoes and after the race said it was his best race as far as comfort went. Kendall was in her element cheering everyone on! So here are some photos! With love from the zoo :)

Struggles and Hopes

The past few days have been a bit of a struggle. Pregnancy in itself isn't the most comfortable thing but as I am finding out (personally and from friends) the 3rd time is so much more rough. I don't know if it is the fact with the 1st and even with the second there is time to rest. There are points during the day and through the night that you can take some "me time". Not so much with your 3rd. I feel like I am constantly being pulled in many different directions but at the same time failing at all of them. I want to be a good wife, mother, dental hygienist, home maker, friend etc but feel like I am constantly dropping the ball. But then I sit back and I think. I have numerous friends - many who may be reading this blog that would LOVE to be in my position. To feel the movement of a little one inside of them, to go to dr appts and get good news that all is looking well with their baby, that baby is developing and growing the way it should and the heartbeat is strong. They want what I have - to be blessed with the feeling of bringing something truly amazing into this world. So who am I to complain? I constantly ask myself this question when I want to throw in the towel - in pain and just want to be done. So instead of complaining or feeling miserable I am going to turn this around. Turn to Christ and thank Him for the blessing of being able to be a mother. I have also found that looking back at newborn pictures helps too :)

Summer Fun

So this summer has been one of record temps. So in order to stay alive we have been spending lots of time in the water! Where ever we can find it :) We bought a small pool last summer for our back yard and only use it a few times last year. This year however I think we have been in it every day and occasionally multiple times a day! Cohen is getting sooo much better at swimming and Kendall loves to copy everything he does. Here are a few pictures :)

So excited to be spending time at Nana and Poppy's house

Oh Cabana boy!!

Another favorite activity this summer has been spending time at the Whitecaps. Both kids love all the fun and of course the food :)

So Much for Natural Delivery

Well Carrie saw the doctor again this morning and while there was progress, there wasn't much hope given for a natural birth delivery. We found out that Baby "G"'s heart rate was at 156bpm, but not moving towards joining the world. As of right now Carrie's due date is set for August 8th, but since her body doesn't like to give up babies, we will most likely be setting an induce date for August 13th. In  some regards I love knowing when my child will be here and in others I am disheartened to know and would love to be surprised. As long as it's healthy and comes sometime soon, I will be a happy papa. Please continue to keep Carrie and the baby in your thoughts and prayers and stay tuned for baby updates and news.

Let's Race...

As someone who loves to race but hates to train, I was seeking something to keep me motivated. So, I got my son involved and hooked on Running. Ever since I had him run his first race. I can't seem to keep him off of track. Cohen asks me everyday when his next race will be and he always ask's me come race day "Dad are you just gonna watch me race this time". Kids are so stinking cute and such a blessing. Here are some photo's of Cohen's first competitive race. This was the Brian Diemer 5K back in early June.
So we are entering the world of the bloggers. We will see how this goes :) I am hoping that it will be a place we can share fun stories of our crazy family. There are many days that we feel like we live in a zoo - hence the name- "We are a Zoo." Lately the zoo is focused around staying cool and waiting for our "new addition." Cohen swears there is a baby girl in mommy's belly - apparently he either likes having little sisters or he likes being daddy's only son. Keith is constantly telling Cohen that he is "daddy's favorite son" so Cohen must really like that :)
